Quantum computing technology has advanced at lightning speed in recent years, threatening to undermine traditional cryptographic systems. As a result, post-quantum cryptographic algorithms and quantum key security management have become strategic imperatives in information security.

As a leader in modern cybersecurity, China Unicom has taken the initiative to release this secure phone, bolstering defenses across the network. The product, developed in collaboration with Origin Quantum, benefits from support by China University of Science and Technology academicians Guo Guangcan and Guo Guoping. It innovatively integrates post-quantum cryptography with national encryption standards, achieving a new level of quantum-resilient security — a major technological breakthrough that injects new vigor into the industry.

The launch brought together government leaders, university professors, and tech experts, sparking widespread attention for China’s first post-quantum secure phone.

Quantum-era information security demands comprehensive updates across devices, encryption, and systems. China Unicom’s secure phone features a three-layer defense architecture — ‘custom enterprise phone + quantum-safe messaging + quantum SIM card.’ The SIM card includes a quantum random number generator chip, enabling a double-protection mechanism that withstands quantum-level computing attacks. It’s a pioneering mobile communications solution for enterprise and government sectors.

The device is available on flagship Chinese models like the HUAWEI Mate 70 series, delivering both performance and security. It supports encrypted audio/video calls, secure messaging, encrypted file transfers, group encryption, forced watermarking, ephemeral messages, screenshot prevention, and more. Coupled with remote device management, hardened firmware, and enterprise-tier customizations, it meets the nuanced needs of corporate and government environments. Pilot trials are already underway across several sectors.

The launch featured keynote addresses, panel discussions, and product demonstrations, highlighting broad industry interest. It promises a safer, more user‑friendly communications experience and is expected to spark a wave of upgrades across the sector. China Unicom will continue to explore deeper integration of quantum technologies with network security and expand quantum-safe products across more application scenarios.
